STEP 2: Using a Forstner bit equal to the diameter of your bearing at the point indicated in the drawing, with panel B oriented as shown in (Figure 3). Bore a little at a time, stopping to set your bearing in the hole and lay your flange on top. If the flange doesn’t touch the panel, bore the hole a bit deeper. Be careful not to go too deep or your bearing won’t fit properly. You may even create a test hole with a scrap, then set your drill press depth stop before boring the actual panel. (Save the scrap for later.) Once you have the bearing fitted, use a 11⁄4" bit to bore out the center of the hole (Figure 3). Mount the bearing (Figure 4).
